Progress continues on the I-85 Sanitary Sewer Improvement Project, with crews advancing another important section of sewer infrastructure along the project corridor. As part of this progress, residents, commuters, and nearby property owners are encouraged to plan ahead for a temporary travel pattern change scheduled for Wednesday, June 3rd, 2026.

Project activity is scheduled to continue along Joe Peed Road, East Middleton, West Middleton Drive, East Lyon Station Road, A Street, 8th Street, and Central Avenue.

Work will include force main installation, gravity sewer activity, valve and electrical building improvements, odor-control preparation, wet well coating work, electrical ductbank installation, microtunnel-related pipe installation, and controlled blasting on West A Street.

🚧 Important Travel Notice Beginning June 3rd, 2026 🚧

Pipeline work has progressed to East Lyon Station Road, and the contractor is scheduled to cross East Lyon Station Road from West Middleton Drive on Wednesday, June 3rd. This work is a key step in moving the project forward and will require a temporary one-lane closure while crews complete the crossing.

Traffic control will be in place, and drivers should anticipate brief delays, reduced travel speeds, and active construction near East Lyon Station Road and West Middleton Drive. Drivers traveling through this area are encouraged to allow additional travel time and exercise caution.

No planned water or sewer service interruptions are anticipated at this time.

Please be advised that noise disruptions may occur during the blasting and construction activities. Work may begin as early as 7:00 AM. Traffic impacts should be expected on multiple streets within the construction area, primarily associated with deliveries, blasting activity, and excavation operations with work ending at 10:00 PM.
