I-85 SSI Project
The South Granville Water & Sewer Authority partnered with engineering experts CDM Smith to conduct the I-85 Sanitary Sewer Improvement Project.
This project will replace aging materials to maintain an infrastructure that meets Granville County’s present and forthcoming capacity demands.

Upcoming I-85 Sanitary Sewer Improvements Project work will include continued pipe installation by Park Construction from the launch pit toward Will Suitt Road. Crews are expected to cross Will Suitt Road, install approximately 100 additional feet of pipe along Will Suitt Road, and then relocate back to the launching pit. Park Construction will also continue work associated with the microtunnel resubmittal.
Carolina Drilling will continue controlled blasting activities from the launching pit area toward Railroad Avenue. J&B is anticipated to begin work in June, with Park Construction coordinating flaggers and updating the RailPros portal in preparation for upcoming railroad-related coordination.
JF Wilkerson crews are also scheduled to continue force main installation and utility coordination along East Middleton Drive and West Middleton Drive, including the 16-inch force main near East Middleton Drive and the 24-inch combined force main along West Middleton Drive. Localized flagging and driveway coordination are anticipated where crews are working near residential access points.
Please be advised that noise disruptions may occur during the blasting and construction activities. Work may begin as early as 7:00 AM. Traffic impacts should be expected on multiple streets within the construction area, primarily associated with deliveries, blasting activity, and excavation operations.
