January Board Meeting

Updated: Feb 20

The South Granville Water & Sewer Authority's January 2025 meeting discussed the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry's (ATSDR) evaluation of the South Granville Water and Sewer Authority's (SGWASA) drinking water quality, prompted by a customer petition.

ATSDR reviewed drinking water quality reports from 2018-2023 and found no violations for non-PFAS chemicals, thus no further evaluation is needed.

Public concerns were recently heightened by the discovery of PFAs and newly adjusted discover levels. SGWASA monitors PFAs levels deposited from the public into the water source and is currently conducting a $500,000 pilot study to remove PFAs. A final report is expected in 2029, per EPA guidance and standards. The Board is in the advance process of exploring contracts for PFAs reduction and mitigation.
