Butner, NC. September 18, 2024 - SGWASA utility crews and contracted engineering teams successfully completed repairs and servicing at the Middleton Pump Station pump failure on September 17th.
The mechanical issue initially caused both pumps to be out of service for several hours. To maintain operations, SGWASA crews and contracted engineers quickly implemented a bypass system. The bypass allowed for continued service while repairs were underway.

Butner, NC. September 17, 2024 – Technicians and utility crews have completed preliminary pump station servicing and are working diligently to restore full functionality to the Middleton Pump Station. Due to the current rain event, repairs have been temporarily halted to prioritize employee safety.
A bypass system has been implemented to maintain operations while crews address the necessary repairs. Work is expected to resume tomorrow, weather permitting.

To mitigate the impact of this outage, we are implementing a bypass system. This process involves working within a confined space, specifically the manhole, to connect the bypass line. Please be aware that this work may cause temporary disruptions in water service to some customers within the service area.
