*** System Pressure Advisory In Effect Until Further Notice***

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The following is offered to SGWASA customers as information only. There are no confirmed problems with the drinking water quality in this subject area.

Butner, NC. May 21, 2024— Due to Emergency water main repair work at 405 West B Street in the Town of Butner. SGWASA water customers experienced a period of no pressure in the water distribution system.  Due to this event, a water system pressure advisory is in effect until further notice.

There are no known problems with the quality of the drinking water due to the water main repairs.  Water quality testing samples will be collected following the completion of the repairs. The water quality tests are performed to affirm the quality of the drinking water in the affected area.  The tests require a minimum of 24 hours for processing to receive accurate results.  Test results will be made available to our customers as soon as we have them.

Precautionary Information for Customers:  Periods of no pressure in the distribution system increase the potential for back siphonage as well as the introduction of bacteria into the water system. Based on this potential the NC Division of Environmental Health has instructed SGWASA to offer the following precautionary information in accordance with 15A NCAC 18C 0901.

•      Vigorous boiling for one (1) minute will kill any disease-causing organisms that may be present in the water.

•      Infants below the age of six months and pregnant women should use an alternate water supply (e.g. bottled water) whenever possible during the period of this advisory.

This advisory remains in effect until further written notification is issued. Please stay up to date on this topic and other news topics by monitoring our website at www.sgwasa.org
