I-85 SSI - Construction Kickoff Recap

On March 28, 2025, the South Granville Water and Sewer Authority (SGWASA) hosted the I-85 Sanitary Sewer Improvement (SSI) Project Construction Kickoff Celebration at Butner Town Hall and Gazebo. The event began with an information session in the Town Hall's Camp Butner Room, followed by a groundbreaking and ribbon-cutting ceremony. Attendees had the opportunity to engage with professionals from SGWASA, CDM Smith, and Haren Construction, gaining insights into the project's scope and anticipated benefits for Granville County.

A highlight of the ceremony was the participation of students from Butner-Stem Elementary, who led the crowd in the National Anthem following an invocation and project blessing by Apostle Monica McCullers, highlighting the unity focus in community.

Executive Director Scott N. Schroyer provided project impact details and information surrounding the project progress.

The most common question focused on how the project will enhance infrastructure and improve water quality. Local officials, legislators, mayors, and community leaders stood side by side with residents to commemorate this utility milestone in Granville County. Construction Set to Begin April 1st
